Description
Light, even greyish, brown. Often very pale, females are darker and have a shorter, broader shape.
Size
7 - 11 mm
Wings
Males are fully winged. Females have vestigial wings and are flightless.
Food
Omnivorous.
Habitat
Native to UK, Central and South-Eastern Europe. Scrub and coarse vegetation on woodland margins, commons and road verges
Phenology
Two year life cycle with five nymphal instars. Adults present from end of May to the end of September. Nymphs overwinter in the fourth instar where they can be found in grass tussocks and deep leaf litter from October to March.
