Description: 

Pale, small version of the Common Earwig but hindwings are absent or greatly reduced. The cerci are flattened and straight up to approximately half their total length.

Size: 

6 – 7 mm

Wings: 

Hindwings absent or greatly reduced.

Habitat: 

Native to UK, Southern and Central Europe. Most records from the UK are on base rich soil. Beaten from trees and shrubs, in hedges particularly with nettles and rough vegetation. Also uses hollow stemmed plants such as hogweed.

Phenology: 

Adults usually seen from July to October.
