Description
Brown cricket with two dark bars across the head and another across the rear of the pronotum. The cerci are longer than the ovipositor.
Size
13 - 18 mm
Wings
Short-winged and flightless.
Stridulation
High-pitched, two-toned and insistently repetitive song.
Food
Omnivorous.
Habitat
The tropical species is one of the most common to be bred in captivity and sold as live food in pet shops. Colonies of escapes tend to occur only in sheltered places such as greenhouses or zoos.
Phenology
Tropical species, it has a continuous life cycle and all stages may be found at any time of the year.
