Variable but usually greyish brown. Females have a long, upturned ovipositor.

Habitat
Coastal species – coarse grass and rough vegetation on sand dunes, shingle banks and south-facing cliffs.
Phenology
Nymphs hatch in May. Adults appear in July to autumn.
